“Common sense has become a common theme”, United States president, Donald Trump stated, as he addressed congress via a speech that sparsely referenced Africa.

Since reentering the White House, President Donald Trump has led an administration focused on reducing federal waste.
As a response, he established the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by South African-born billionaire Elon Musk, to identify government projects via which funds are wasted or utilized fraudulently.
Earlier in February, the Elon Musk-led DOGE canceled the $17 million project intended to provide tax policy advice to Liberia.
“Thank you, Elon, you’re working very hard. He didn’t need this, he didn’t need this. Thank you very much. We appreciate it. Everybody here, even this side, appreciates it, I believe. They just don’t want to admit that,” Donald Trump stated during his address to Congress on the 4th of March, 2024.
The newly re-elected president focused on this subject during his address, highlighting how much the office has discovered in government mismanagement, and one of said discoveries happened to be funding for the LGBTQ+ community in an African country.
“Just listen to some of the appalling waste we have already identified,” the president stated.
“$8 million to promote LGBTQ+ in the African nation of Lesotho, which nobody has ever heard of,” he continued.
“$60 million for indigenous peoples and Afro-Colombian empowerment in Central America. $60 million. $8 million for making mice transgender,” he added to the cackle of the statesmen.
Other funding to African countries the president considered scams include the aforementioned Liberian program.
“This is real. $32 million for a left-wing propaganda operation in Moldova. $10 million for male circumcision in Mozambique,” he stated.
“$1.5 million for voter confidence in Liberia, $14 million for social cohesion in Mali.”
$250,000 to increase vegan local climate action innovation in Zambia, $42 million for social and behavior change in Uganda,” he added.
