Given how the relationships between several African countries and Western countries are falling apart, it begs the question of whether Russia’s relationship with its African partners would meet the same fate.

This question was addressed recently by the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, who noted that the Kremlin’s ties in Africa are unlikely to disintegrate.
She underlined how cooperation between Russia and African nations is not weakening, but rather reaching a new level.
“Regarding the weakening, as you said, of interaction with African partners, I think that such a tendency is not even close to being observed. We just presented the second African department the other day. By the way, I saw a reaction in Western countries that is, you know, close to panic,” she said
“We are actively working on the practical implementation of the agreements reached based on the joint action plan of the Russia-Africa partnership forum for 2023-2026,” she added, responding to a question about Moscow’s military-technical support to African countries.
Russia in the last few years has been gaining a lot of traction in Africa, particulalrly in the western part of the continent.
Last week, the speaker of the Russian State Duma, the lower house of the Russian Federal Assembly, Vyacheslav Volodin, noted that the growing relationship between the Kremlin and several African states has become a major point of focus for the country’s administration.
Whether by design or by accident, this budding relationship between several African countries and Russia is coming at a time when Western powers are being rejected in Africa.
As a result, countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, Chad, and Niger which have ended military alliances with France, have opted to strengthen their relationship with Russia.
Recently, Russia finalized plans to create its first naval station in Africa, bolstering its status among global giants like the United States and China.
