This is coming barely a week after he sent out a controversial tweet, which read as a threat to his father’s political rival, Bobbi Wine.
Despite being against military protocol, Muhoozi who is the current Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, has grown increasingly active in politics, reigniting speculations about his intentions to succeed his father, who has been in power since 1986.
As some have projected, Muhoozi Kainerugaba might be on track to succeed his father, Yoweri Museveni as president, once the man is done.
If this happens to be the case, some of the tweets the general has put out could be very implicating.
Last week, Muhoozi expressed in a tweet that he wants to behead the country’s most renowned opposition leader, Bobi Wine.
“If Mzee was not there, I would cut off his head today,” Kainerugaba posted.
He also followed up his tweet, stating that the opposition should pay him what they owe before he proceeds to behead him, which has been deleted.
While he apologized and flagged his comments off as a joke, members of the public have pushed back, condemning his brash use of words.
In his farewell tweet to his X followers, the general noted that his decision to quit the platform was motivated by his religion and a renewed commitment to his military duty as a general in the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).
“It is on the instructions and blessings of my Lord Jesus Christ that I leave this social media and dedicate myself to my assignment to bring peace and security to our region,” he stated.
“To all my dear followers, it has been a great whirlwind and rousing journey together on these streets for the last 10 years since 2014,” he added.
He urged his followers to continue supporting his father, whom he referred to as “the greatest general of the resistance,” as reported by the BBC.
