Niger continues to make major advances as it plans to establish multiple airlines, following plans to implement a biometric passport system with Burkina Faso and Mali.

Niger recently announced plans to establish a national airline, as well as another that would service members of the Alliance of Sahel states, which includes Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.
This information was disclosed by Salissou Mahaman Salissou the country’s Minister of Transportation and Equipment.
“The establishment of an airline of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) is a priority,” local media quoted Salissou as saying while presenting his report.
The minister pointed out that, the plan to establish two airlines shortly falls in line with the country’s goal to facilitate seamless interactions with its fellow AES countries as well as ease travel within its borders.
“In terms of air transportation, as I said, the discussions are ongoing, and we have come a long way, the Minister reportedly stated.

“Not only at the national level, but also at the confederal level, and with our partners, so that we can make sure that our population has access to air transportation, and that everyone can get from point A to point B in complete safety, according to their capabilities,” he added.
The minister also emphasized Niger’s efforts to modernize aviation standards to attract domestic and foreign investment in the industry, stressing the availability of skilled workers and modern facilities.
“We have already instructed the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) to relax a number of regulations to make things easier.
As a result, ANAC was able to very quickly put online the conditions for applying for and obtaining overflight and landing permits.
We have also made it easier to obtain the certificate required to set up and operate an airline,” Salissou pointed out.
As reported by Sputnik the minister noted that the national airline is intended to enhance access to remote parts of the country, allowing for speedier emergency medical care.
